Welcome to the Samoyed Club of America's National Specialty Herding Event! Mark your calendars for an exciting weekend of herding
on Saturday, September 23rd and Sunday, September 24th, 2023. This event is proudly organized in collaboration with the American Herding Breeds Association (AHBA), featuring esteemed judges Carol Lundquist and Erin Ledbetter.
Whether you're an experienced herder or looking to try your hand at this fascinating activity, we invite you to join us. The Herding Capability Test (HCT) is open to all, with no training or prerequisites required. Take this opportunity to showcase your Samoyed's natural herding instincts.
To accommodate participants, we will be offering two Samoyed preferred test/trial sessions each day, including the Herding Capability Test (HCT), Junior Herding Test (JHD) and Herding Trial Arena Dog (HTAD). Successfully completing two passing instinct tests will earn your dog an HCT title. So, bring your enthusiasm and watch your Samoyed shine in the herding arena!
To enhance your experience, an optional box lunch can be purchased at the time of entry. This way, you can refuel and stay energized throughout the trials. We want to ensure you have everything you need to make the most of your time with us.
Located at the beautiful Isle of Calais (IOC) in Smithfield, VA, this picturesque setting offers stunning water views in a serene farm environment. It's the perfect backdrop for a weekend dedicated to celebrating the herding instincts of our beloved Samoyeds. For those staying at the Founders Inn and Spa, the venue is just a scenic 45-minute drive away.
We understand that many of you may also be interested in participating in the Metropolitan Atlanta Samoyed Club's regional specialty. Rest assured, our herding trials will conclude by 2:30 pm on Sunday, allowing ample time for you to make your way to the next exciting event.
Get ready for an incredible weekend of herding, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories. Join us at the Samoyed Club of America's National Specialty Herding Event and witness the remarkable talents of these amazing dogs. See you there!
